Even though the Evansville Memorial Tigers have not done well against the Castle Knights recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Evansville Memorial strolled past Castle with points to spare, taking the game 70-54. The win made it back-to-back wins for Evansville Memorial.
It was another big night for Tucker Tornatta, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. He set a new season high mark in steals with three. Another player making a difference was Luke Ellspermann, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xander Niehaus, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Niehaus continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Mcatee, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Evansville Memorial now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Castle, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evansville Memorial won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. Mt. Vernon is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.4 points per game. As for Castle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Evansville Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Evansville Central is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
