The Pacifica Tritons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 63-25 defeat at the hands of Ventura. While losing is never fun, Pacifica can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 714th, while Ventura is ranked 27th).
Ventura's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jasmine Moore, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailee Staniland, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Pacifica has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Ventura, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 20-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pacifica will take on Oxnard at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ventura, they will head out on the road to take on San Marcos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Marcos is on a three-game streak of home wins, Ventura a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
