The Clovis Cougars will face off against the Stockdale Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Clovis barely beat Oakdale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars' pitchers stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

At the plate, Maddox Merrill was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Brock Hartmann was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Clovis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakdale only posted an OBP of .250.
Stockdale came out on top against Tehachapi on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Warriors. The game marked the Mustangs' most dominant win of the season so far.
Gabriel Borja was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Stockdale got a massive performance out of Cooper Eberly, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Brock Johnson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Stockdale's victory bumped their record up to 7-1-1. As for Clovis, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Clovis has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Stockdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Clovis got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Stockdale by a conclusive 7-0 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
