The Knights haven't had any issues with the Irish recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Elmwood-Murdock's win came from a few key players Cedar Bluffs will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dashiell Coleman, who rushed for 158 yards and three scores on only nine carries, and also threw for 127 yards and one TD on only ten passes. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making nine total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass. Elmwood-Murdock was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 462 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
One reason for the win was Elmwood-Murdock's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Carson Towle, Ryerson Kastens, and Dalton Bouzek, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Elmwood-Murdock's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Cedar Bluffs, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Cedar Bluffs has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 241 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Elmwood-Murdock struggles in that department as they've been averaging 286.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Cedar Bluffs was dealt a bruising 58-14 loss at the hands of Elmwood-Murdock when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Coleman, who rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries, and also threw for 90 yards and a pair of TDs. Now that the Wildcats know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
