Coronado is 1-9 against Mesa Ridge since September of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cougars will host the Grizzlies at 3:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Coronado came up short against Widefield and fell 7-4.
Meanwhile, Mesa Ridge waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Stallions a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Grizzlies have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Reagan Fabrizi made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Serenity Higgins was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kiana Steinhoff, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Mesa Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Mesa Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 10-7-1. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.
