Basketball Recap: Orcutt Academy Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Orcutt Academy won the last time they faced El Diamante, and Elizabeth Johnson did her part to make sure it happened again. The Orcutt Academy Spartans strolled past the El Diamante Miners with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 67-52 thanks in part to Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 20 boards. Her evening made it 21 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Despite the defeat, El Diamante had strong showings from Angelina Morales, who posted 23 points along with seven boards and three steals, and Rian Jones-Dillihunt, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Jones-Dillihunt has posted since back in January of 2024. Kaycee Perryman was another key player, putting up four points.

Orcutt Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. As for El Diamante, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

Orcutt Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 75-39 victory against Paso Robles on the 8th. As for El Diamante, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-36 win against Tulare Union on the 2nd.
