Baseball Game Preview: McFarland Cougars vs. North Stars

McFarland hasn't had much luck against North recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Stars at 6:00 p.m. McFarland will be strutting in after a victory while North will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, McFarland turned things around against Laton on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mustangs, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since March 16, 2024.

McFarland's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cris Soto, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The Cougars are 4-1 when Soto posts two or more runs, but 4-13-1 otherwise.

Legacy Christian Academy hit North with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Stars lost 11-1 to the Lions. The Stars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

North's defeat dropped their record down to 7-21. As for McFarland, their win bumped their record up to 8-14-1.

McFarland suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to North when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
