The Everett Warriors will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Williamsburg Blue Pirates at 3:45 p.m. on February 16th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 13 to 5 on the offensive boards, a fact Everett proved on Thursday. They came out on top against Tussey Mountain by a score of 48-39.
Cloe Price continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Everett's points. Jade Colledge was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
In what's become a running theme this season, Williamsburg gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They blew past Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy 67-41. The victory was nothing new for Williamsburg as they're now sitting on 17 straight.
Ayla Hileman and Levada Gorsuch were among the main playmakers for Williamsburg as the former scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gorsuch has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Laney Prough, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Everett is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Williamsburg, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Everett have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Williamsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everett came up short against Williamsburg in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 51-39. Can Everett avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
