The Marin Catholic Wildcats waltzed into their game on Saturday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They secured a 50-45 W over Cornerstone Christian. Given Marin Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Cornerstone Christian is ranked 202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Cornerstone Christian still got an impressive performance from Mecca Alexander, who scored 21 points. Alexander is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Zakara Cooper, who scored eight points.
Marin Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Cornerstone Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.
Marin Catholic and Branson will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Branson will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Cornerstone Christian, they will be playing at home against Fremont Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
