The Boone Central Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a 40-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Centura. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Boone Central of the 53-40 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Centura found their leader in underclassman Kennedy Davis, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 blocks. Davis has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Wooden, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Boone Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Centura, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boone Central will take on Northwest at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Centura, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Arcadia/Loup City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Centura is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Arcadia/Loup City in Nebraska (Centura is ranked 70th, while Arcadia/Loup City is ranked 235th).
