The Waverly Ravens and the Southwestern Academy Sun will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Waverly comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, Waverly was beaten by The Webb Schools 63-4. Waverly was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-2.
Southwestern Academy suffered their biggest loss since November 21, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Mesrobian at home and fell 63-27. Southwestern Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losing side was boosted by Valza Jusufi, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Marifer Durand was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven steals.
Waverly's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Southwestern Academy, their loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-9.
Waverly couldn't quite finish off Southwestern Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 and fell 18-16. Can Waverly avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
