The Redwood Rangers lost to the Porterville Panthers back in January, but the Redwood Rangers didn't allow the Porterville Panthers the same satisfaction on Saturday. Redwood narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Porterville 51-48.
Leading Redwood to victory were Sydney Calderon and Brooklyn Tayo. Calderon scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals, while Tayo scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Tayo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aryel Chavez, who scored 11 points.
Redwood's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Porterville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Redwood will head out on the road to face off against Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Centennial is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games. Porterville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mission Oak at 11:30 a.m. on December 27th.
