The DeMatha Stags's three-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They walked away with a 67-60 win over Salesianum. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
DeMatha's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malcolm Thomas, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton (ace) Meeks, who scored 18 points along with five assists.
DeMatha's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Salesianum, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DeMatha and Bishop McNamara will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Salesianum is on the road again on Saturday and play against Malvern Prep at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. Malvern Prep will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
