Given Schuylkill Haven's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while the Green Wave are ranked 587th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Schuylkill Haven's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mckenna Runkle led the charge by scoring 11 points. Another player making a difference was Anna Schaeffer, who scored nine points.
Schuylkill Haven's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2. As for Nativity BVM, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Schuylkill Haven won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
