The West Park Panthers will square off against the Cordova Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.4 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when West Park took on Kennedy on Monday. The Panthers blew past the Cougars 13-3. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly ten runs.
David Ortez looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Levi Nyberg was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since April 4th. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Nathaniel Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
West Park is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Cordova, their loss dropped their record down to 13-12-1.
West Park beat Cordova 6-1 in their previous matchup on April 11th. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
