It was a good run, but the Gabrielino Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 46-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cabrillo. While losing is never fun, Gabrielino can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 418th, while Cabrillo is ranked 150th).
When it comes to explaining why Gabrielino lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mia Lim. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with three blocks. Lim set a new season high mark in blocks with three. Another player making a difference was Paris Ngeam, who scored six points along with five steals.
Gabrielino's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Cabrillo, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gabrielino is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Marshall at 5:00 p.m. on December 13th. Cabrillo and Foothill Tech will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
