Baseball Recap: Burroughs Has No Trouble Against Hesperia

Burroughs was forced to take a big loss against Hesperia on Wednesday, they got the better of them on Friday. The Burros blew past the Scorpions 12-4. Considering the Burros have won ten contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Steve Lormand made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cael Rivera, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March of 2025. Andrew Haas also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Burroughs is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 14-4 record this season. As for Hesperia, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burroughs will take on Oak Hills at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Burros' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Hesperia, they will square off against Indio at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
