On Thursday, Whitmer made easy work of Start and carried off a 20-4 victory.
Caralinn Meyers made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Meyers was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Natalina Krygielski was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Hannah Johnson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Clay had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Maumee on Monday and snuck past 11-10. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
