The University Prep Panthers will challenge the Fall River Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. University Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
University Prep's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Corning as University Prep made off with a 9-0 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Casey Wrathall made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because University Prep is 3-0-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-3 otherwise. Wrathall was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, Jacob Lindell looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

Back at the plate, David Wenham and Waylon Stripling did most of the damage at the plate: Wenham scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4, while Stripling scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Wenham is becoming a predictor of University Prep's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 1-2-1 when he doesn't). Tyler White was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
University Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Fall River fell victim to Enterprise and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Hornets, falling 10-0. The Bulldogs just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.
University Prep's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fall River, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
University Prep's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. University Prep has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Fall River, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will University Prep continue to outrun the ball?
