An exciting North v. South battle is about to be fought. The North Stars will head out on the road to take on the South Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with 13 defeats in a row, North turned things around against Mojave on Friday. They blew past the Mustangs 22-1. The Stars not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 18th (when they won 23-0).

BRANDAN THOMASSON made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, North got a massive performance out of TYLER DUNN, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four hits gave DUNN a new career-high. Another player making a difference was RILEY STONEBRAKER, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double.
North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, South waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 11-1 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.
Like North, South also got a great game from a two-way player: Josh Encinas. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Encinas has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tomas Encinas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.
North's record is now 6-17. As for South, their record now sits at 15-7.
North suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to South in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Stars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
