The Silsbee Tigers will face off against the Tarkington Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tarkington took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Silsbee, who comes in off a win.
Silsbee would be wise to avoid a repeat of their last game when they take on Tarkington seeing as the team posted more yard in penalties than they did on offense (which somehow didn't cost them the game). The Tigers blew past Hamshire-Fannett 41-20 on Friday. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Jacaleb Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 186 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. Those 186 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Ty'Zavion Hafford was another key player, rushing for 100 yards and one touchdown.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Silsbee proved: they limited Hamshire-Fannett to a paltry 1.3 yards per carry. While four picked up at least one total tackle, Johnson stood above the rest. He rushed for 186 yards and three scores while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Silsbee; they were averaging 5.2yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three matchups they've fallen to only -1.8 per game.

Silsbee's defense also made the game a nightmare for Blake Broussard, racking up nine sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Levin Powell and Carter Howard, who racked up five sacks between them. With that strong performance, Powell is now averaging an impressive 5.6 total tackles per game. Kyler Smith was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making seven total tackles.
Meanwhile, Tarkington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by Shepherd and fell 48-0. Considering the last time the Longhorns couldn't score was back in August, the team can't take the result too hard.
Silsbee pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.4 points over those games. As for Tarkington, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Everything came up roses for Silsbee against Tarkington when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 44-3 victory. In that game, the Tigers amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
