It was a good run, but the San Carlos Braves unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 66-50 bruising from Miami. San Carlos was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vandals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why San Carlos lost, one person who can't be blamed is ELLYSIA CUTTER. Despite the final result, she scored 25 points. CUTTER has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last three times she's played. CAYLEE LONGSTREET was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Miami's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tamia Pietila led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Pietila has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last 16 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Demetria Dosela, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
San Carlos' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-3. As for Miami, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4.
San Carlos will face off against the CHARGERS at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Arete Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Braves are ranked 65th). As for Miami, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
