The King City Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Pajaro Valley Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pajaro Valley took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on King City, who comes in off a win.
King City fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They escaped with a win on Friday against Notre Dame by the margin of a single free throw, 54-53.
Malaya Carrillo was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 16 points. Amity Hearne was another key contributor, scoring three points along with 16 rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Pajaro Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 47-28 bruising from Notre Dame. The contest was a 17-17 toss-up at halftime, but Pajaro Valley was outscored by Notre Dame in the second.
King City's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Pajaro Valley, they bumped their record down to 1-12 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.
King City beat Pajaro Valley 52-40 when the teams last played back in February of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for King City since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
