Basketball Recap: Johanna Thames and Brianna Elgan Secure Win for Yucaipa

Yucaipa won the last time they faced Beaumont and things went their way on Thursday too. The Yucaipa Thunderbirds walked away with a 49-37 victory over the Beaumont Cougars. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunderbirds.

Yucaipa was led to victory by Brianna Elgan and Johanna Thames. Elgan almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine boards, while Thames dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was Elgan's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Mclane, who posted five points.

Despite the loss, Beaumont still got an impressive performance from Amirah Jones, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards. Jones has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jasmin Craner, who went 5 of 9 en route to 10 points and six rebounds.

Yucaipa has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.9 points per game. As for Beaumont, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 13-6 record.

Yucaipa will face off against Redlands East Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Yucaipa is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season. As for Beaumont, they will welcome Citrus Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
