San Diego has been on the road for 12 straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Point Loma Pointers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully San Diego focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
San Diego can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup. They were the clear victor by a 50-26 margin over University City. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win San Diego has posted since December 12, 2023.
San Diego's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mackenzie Nitzel, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 22 rebounds. Nitzel is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lara Saucedo, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, Point Loma came up short against Patrick Henry on Tuesday and fell 49-42.
San Diego pushed their record up to 10-9 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Point Loma, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.
San Diego beat Point Loma 50-39 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Point Loma's Emma Heckman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.
