After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chino Hills, the Elsinore Tigers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Hemet by a score of 44-31. For Elsinore, this counts as revenge for the 45-28 loss Hemet walked away with the last time they faced one another on January 3rd.
Ashirah Williams was her usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Iree Mativa was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Hemet lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ruby Lindsey, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Glory Valencia, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Elsinore's win bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Hemet, they bumped their record down to 11-8 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
Elsinore will take on Vista del Lago at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Vista del Lago has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 13. As for Hemet, they will head out on the road to take on Canyon Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Canyon Springs will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
