Rabun County is 2-8 against Elbert County since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wildcats will host the Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between Rabun County and Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy, and Rabun County kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Blazers on Friday.
Meanwhile, Elbert County had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Patriots.
Brody Baker was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.
In other pitching news, Elbert County got a great performance from Adler Bradford as he struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Bradford has posted since back in April of 2025.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Cheyvis Mclendon, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Jose Rodrigues was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Elbert County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.
Elbert County's victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Rabun County, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
Rabun County came out on top in a nail-biter against Elbert County in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
