Two dominant guards in Delorean Mason and Kenzie Garner are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Southmont Mounties will head out on the road to take on the Sheridan Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Southmont will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Southmont put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past Crawfordsville, posting a 44-16 victory at home. Given Southmont's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Crawfordsville is ranked 396th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Sheridan came up short against Clinton Central on Tuesday and fell 51-42.
Sheridan's loss came about despite a quality game from Garner, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Garner hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Timme, who scored nine points.
Southmont's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. As for Sheridan, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5.
Southmont didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Sheridan in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, but they still walked away with a 58-52 win. Will Southmont repeat their success, or does Sheridan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
