Baseball Recap: Lawrence Victorious

Lawrence won the last time they faced Litchfield and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Tigers came out on top against the Terriers by a score of 13-10. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Brydan Carroll made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lawrence is 3-1 when Carroll allows two or fewer hits, but 4-19-1 otherwise. Carroll was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lawrence let Jake Theragene and Payton Camp run wild. Theragene went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Camp went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Camp is becoming a predictor of Lawrence's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 4-19-1 when he doesn't). Jon Shabala was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Lawrence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Lawrence's victory bumped their record up to 7-20-1. As for Litchfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lawrence will challenge Centreville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Litchfield, they will head out to take on Camden-Frontier at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Terriers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redskins have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
