Baseball Recap: Swink Triumphs

Swink won the last time they faced Crowley County and things went their way on Friday too. The Lions walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Chargers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Landon Mills was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Swink is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Mills was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

Mills wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nate Cabrera, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Swink is 5-2 when Cabrera posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

Swink's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Crowley County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Coming up, Swink will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against La Veta at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crowley County, they will be playing at home against Ellicott at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers are facing the Thunderhawks at the right time seeing as the Thunderhawks are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
