There's no place like home for the Fairfield Falcons, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Bella Vista by a score of 52-42 on Thursday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fairfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mariah Giron , who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Giron has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Mayana Williams was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and five blocks.
Despite the loss, Bella Vista saw an underclassman step up: Eva Jensen dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Jensen scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Dean, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Bella Vista were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairfield only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Fairfield's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Bella Vista, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Fairfield will head out on the road to face off against Benicia at 4:30 p.m. on January 6, 2024. Bella Vista won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Vacaville at 1:30 p.m. on December 29th. Vacaville is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
