The Mt. Eden Monarchs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 45-33 to Arroyo. Mt. Eden was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Arroyo apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played on January 5th.
Arroyo got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Chan out in front who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Walker, who scored four points along with 16 rebounds and two steals.
Mt. Eden dropped their record down to 3-14 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.7 points per game. As for Arroyo, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-15.
Mt. Eden will head out on the road to square off against Berkeley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Arroyo, they will be playing at home against Encinal at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Encinal presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Arroyo in California (Encinal is ranked 340th, while Arroyo is ranked 1001st).
