While losing is never fun, Foothill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 823rd, while Fountain Valley is ranked 276th).
When it comes to explaining why Foothill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jay Perez. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds. Perez set a new season high mark in points with 11. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Fajardo, who scored 11 points.
Foothill has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Fountain Valley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Tesoro the next time they take the court. Fountain Valley will head out to face Tesoro at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Foothill will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
