The Marshall Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 25 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Rosemead with a sharp 53-28 win on Friday. Given Marshall's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while Rosemead is ranked 929th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marshall's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Destiny Ihiaso, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ihiaso has scored at least 25% of Marshall's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jolynn Alibar, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Marshall's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Rosemead, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marshall will be home for the holidays to greet South El Monte at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rosemead will be home for the holidays to greet Arroyo at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Arroyo will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
