After a string of six wins, the Live Oak Acorns's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Greenfield by a score of 33-30. While losing is never fun, Live Oak can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 532nd, while Greenfield is ranked 257th).
Live Oak's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kathliyah Clement, who scored 9 points along with 16 rebounds. Clement is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Isabelle Cline was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Live Oak's loss dropped their record down to 6-1. As for Greenfield, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Live Oak will head out on the road to face off against St. Francis at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Greenfield, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Coast Union at 5:00 p.m.
