The Palmyra Cougars had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They took down Hershey 51-34. Given Palmyra's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Hershey is ranked 606th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Palmyra found their leader in underclassman Addison Salus, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Salus has scored at least a third of Palmyra's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keely Bowers, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Palmyra pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Hershey, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmyra will take on Mifflin County at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hershey, they will head out on the road to face off against Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Lebanon is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
