Royal and Camarillo are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Highlanders will welcome the Scorpions at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Royal is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
If Royal beats Camarillo with seven runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Highlanders' pitchers stepped up to hand Moorpark a 7-0 shutout on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Highlanders sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Dustin Dunwoody got the start for Royal and what a start it was: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Dunwoody has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Royal let Dayne Peters and Matthew Stout run wild. Peters went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Stout went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Stout has posted since back in May of 2025. Peyton Visage was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Camarillo came up short against Newbury Park on Friday, falling 16-3. The Scorpions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Grant Tsuji made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Robert Pacheco, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Camarillo's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Royal, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
Camarillo's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Royal hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. It's a different story for Camarillo, though, as they've only averaged .240. Will they be able to contain Royal's hitters?
Everything went Royal's way against Camarillo in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Royal made off with a 10-1 victory. Do the Highlanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scorpions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
