You might not recognize the power rankings this week after a busy last week rearranged the teams a whole lot. The action included a dizzyingly high 150-point combined score from Elk River and Buffalo.

The Detroit Lakes offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. Everything went its way against Fergus Falls as it secured a 49 - 7 win. The MaxPreps rankings were spot on as they projected Detroit Lakes as the clear winner. Thanks to its success, Detroit Lakes cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 24th spot.
Can't Touch This
Owatonna's 63 - 27 win over Austin last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Jason Williamson. Williamson rushed for 337 yards and five touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Williamson as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
Movin on Up
Blaine was the better team in every quarter against Osseo last week and consequently the better team overall. Blaine put the hurt on Osseo with a conclusive 45 - 10 victory. Senior Jack Haring deserves a lot of the credit as he tossed the ball for 292 yards and four TDs. Blaine's success was rewarded with a 19-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Wayzata (14th in the power rankings) and Eden Prairie (2nd). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Eden Prairie and Wayzata can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
