Baseball Recap: Washington Wins Going Away Against Mission

Washington won the last time they faced Mission and things went their way on Thursday too. The Eagles blew past the Bears 18-9. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Liam Troy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Washington is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-13 otherwise. Troy was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Tasso Tourlos was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Washington is undefeated when Tourlos posts two or more runs, but 3-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Kim, who went 2-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Washington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Washington's record is now 8-14. As for Mission, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washington will challenge El Cerrito at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mission, they will square off against Summit Shasta at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
