Baseball Recap: Cate Extends Winning Streak to Four

Cate won the last time they faced Villanova Prep and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Rams put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 16-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Quinn Pullen was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cate is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. Pullen was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Casbarro, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Peter Lehman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Cate always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Cate's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Villanova Prep, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Cate will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
