After both having extra time off, the Severance Silver Knights and the Fossil Ridge SaberCats will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Two weeks ago, Severance ended up a good deal behind Berthoud and lost 71-56. While losing is never fun, the Silver Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Spartans are ranked 19th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Reece Yahn, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Zoey Smith was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fossil Ridge waltzed into their contest two weeks ago with four straight wins... but they left with five. They took their match with ease, bagging a 50-14 victory over the Eagles. The SaberCats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 27 points or more this season.
Severance better keep an eye on Elli Johnson. She was instrumental in Fossil Ridge's win, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Johnson a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Maddie Kubat, who posted ten points in addition to five boards and four steals.
Fossil Ridge was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage only posted two assists.
Fossil Ridge's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.3 points per game. As for Severance, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Severance has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.1 boards per game.
