The Sparta Academy Warriors lost against the Edgewood Academy Wildcats back in November, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Sparta Academy took a 45-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Edgewood Academy. Sparta Academy has struggled against Edgewood Academy recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Colton Phillips, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Logan Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Sparta Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Prescott Bonner was the offensive standout of the game as he went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 0 assists. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Whitt, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Sparta Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Edgewood Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sparta Academy will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Crenshaw Christian Academy at 2:30 p.m. on December 16th. Crenshaw Christian Academy is on a four-game streak of home losses, Sparta Academy a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Edgewood Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Dale Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
