Football Recap: Dominic Cromer and Luke Baker Pace Roncalli Defense

Roncalli's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Columbus North Bull Dogs as they made off with a 41-20 victory. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Royals considering their 11-point performance the contest before.

Collin Ash produced another solid performance rushing for 78 yards and three TDs, while also throwing for 25 yards and one touchdown. What's more, he racked up 95.8 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Zach Dozier was another key player, rushing for 75 yards and one score on only nine carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Roncalli proved: they limited Columbus North to a paltry 2.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Carrington Pitts for the heroic effort on defense: he. Roncalli didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.2.

Roncalli didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dominic Cromer and Luke Baker. Baker got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Columbus North still got an impressive performance from Parker Elmore, who picked up 167 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Elmore showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 53 yards. Asher Ratliff was another key player, having thrown for 300 yards and two touchdowns.

The win got Roncalli back to even at 2-2. As for Columbus North, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roncalli will venture away from home to challenge Guerin Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Columbus North, they will square off against Carmel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
