This season hasn't been kind to the Convent of the Sacred Heart Cubs, who are still winless after their sixth match. They took a serious blow against Lick-Wilmerding on Wednesday, falling 57-11. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Convent of the Sacred Heart has scored all season.
Lick-Wilmerding got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Amaya Tavu out in front who scored 15 points along with six steals. That's the first time this season that Tavu scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Lauryn Lacap, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Convent of the Sacred Heart's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.5 points per game. As for Lick-Wilmerding, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-3.
Convent of the Sacred Heart will head out on the road to face off against Marin Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Marin Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Convent of the Sacred Heart in California (Marin Academy is ranked 347th, while Convent of the Sacred Heart is ranked 1034th). Lick-Wilmerding's road trip will continue as they head out to face Crystal Springs Uplands at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th. Crystal Springs Uplands is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
