Madison is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since April 23, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Santa Fe Christian by a score of 6-4.
Dakota James was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Landis Nguyen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Valhalla entered their tilt with Monte Vista on Monday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Monarchs a 7-0 shutout. That seven run margin sets a new team best for the Norsemen this season.
Not much got past Jesse McCormick, who gave up just five hits to keep Monte Vista off the board. McCormick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mace Wheeler, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Rivera, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-5.
Valhalla was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monte Vista only posted a batting average of .192.
Valhalla's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Madison took their win against Valhalla in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 13-1. Does Madison have another victory up their sleeve, or will Valhalla turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
