After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ignacio, the Dove Creek Bulldogs were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They snuck past Dolores with a 48-42 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Dove Creek also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Dove Creek found their leader in underclassman Josh Kibel, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Chadd, who scored six points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Dolores' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mark Palate, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Palate is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Purkat, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
Dove Creek's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Dolores, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
Dove Creek will be playing at home against Telluride at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Telluride is coming into the game with eight straight losses on the road, meaning Dove Creek will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Dolores, they will be playing at home against Ridgway at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgway is coming into the contest with six straight losses on the road, meaning Dolores will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
