For the first time this season, Lorena will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will square off against the Robinson Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lorena knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Robinson likes a good challenge.
Lorena is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Lampasas on Thursday. The Leopards took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Badgers. The game marked the Leopards' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Lorena got top-tier performance from Jaxon Blancett, who threw for 389 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 41 yards. The Leopards also got help from Carson Miller, who showed off his sure hands for 113 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Robinson's strategy against Hillsboro last Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Rockets blew the Eagles out of the water with a 70-22 final score. That 48 point margin sets a new team best for the Rockets this season.
Robinson's win came from a few key players Lorena will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Evan Moreno, who rushed for 151 yards and four TDs on only 14 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards dating back to last season. Brice McCurdy was another key signal caller, throwing for 234 yards and three touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Robinson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 152 rushing yards in eight consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Lorena now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Robinson, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. Lorena has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 347.8 passing yards per game. Robinson, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 260 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Lorena was dealt a bruising 41-6 defeat at the hands of Robinson in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Moreno, who rushed for 205 yards and four scores on only 12 carries.
