Basketball Recap: Berwick Piles Up the Points Against Hanover Area

Berwick had to endure a five-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They really took it to the Hanover Area Hawkeyes for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-20 win. The Bulldogs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Berwick's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abby Calarco led the charge by putting up 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Robbins, who went 7 for 13 on her way to 15 points and eight rebounds.

Calarco wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Berwick was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Berwick's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Hanover Area, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Berwick will take on Wyoming Valley West in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hanover Area and Lake-Lehman will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
