Basketball Recap: University Pathways Medical Magnet Takes a Loss

University Pathways Medical Magnet was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by the Dominguez Dons 72-29.

University Pathways Medical Magnet lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Camila Alcaraz, who posted eight points in addition to 16 rebounds and three blocks. Alcaraz has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gianna Benitez, who had 11 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, University Pathways Medical Magnet smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Dominguez got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was MYA HARRIS out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 18 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of KAYLA SCOTT, who went 9 of 13 on her way to 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

University Pathways Medical Magnet's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Dominguez, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

University Pathways Medical Magnet didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-30 loss against Compton on the 20th. As for Dominguez, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-32 win against San Pedro on the 20th.
