The Windber Ramblers will square off against the Everett Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Windber will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Windber is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Conemaugh Township.
Ike Serenko spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cole Heinrich, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Serenko, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Everett and Chestnut Ridge meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Warriors came out on top against the Lions by a score of 5-1.
Chase Sherwood was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 17 over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Trent Cessna and Levi Cornell did most of the damage at the plate: Cessna went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, while Cornell got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI. That's the most hits Cessna has posted since back in April.
Windber's record is now 16-6. As for Everett, their record now sits at 17-6.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Windber hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Everett struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Windber beat Everett 9-4 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ramblers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
